Walter Harrold

Mr. Walter Harrold, 86, of Hays passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at his home.

Walter was born on September 22, 1937 in Wilkes County to Gilmore Ezekiel Harrold and Ethel M. Harrold.

He enjoyed woodworking and made such items as cabinets, swings and furniture. Walter also like to spend time gardening.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jarvis Harrold, Ed Harrold, Ralph Harrold, Wayne Harrold; sisters, Beulah Taylor and Nancy Greer.

Walter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary A. Barnes Harrold of the home; daughter, Tammy Burke of Hays; brothers, Wade Harrold, Jerry Harrold; sisters, Edith Felts, Della Shumate, Ruby Waller, Betty Foster, Fay Foster; grandchildren, Justin Burke, Brandie Jennings; great grandchildren, Addison Jennings, Tristin Jennings, Khloe Lovette and many nieces and nephews.

A Viewing will be held 1:00 p.m.-1:45 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2024 at Zion Baptist Church, 3492 Yellow Banks Road, Hays NC 28635. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, March, 25, 2024 at Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Albert Handy and Rev. Junior Harrold will be officiating.

In addition to flowers, memorial may be given to Brenner’s Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021.
